They are experts in managing patient health information, administering computer information systems and coding the diagnosis and procedures for healthcare services provided to patients. As the world moves from a paper-based to an electronic society, the HIM profession is at the forefront of this movement. The Health Information Management Program at Coppin State University provides the academic foundation necessary to prepare students to be competent health information management professionals and meet the entry-level competencies that will enable them to apply management and problem solving skills to every aspect of a medical/health information system, regardless of the setting or environment.
